I love working with the students here at Elk Ridge! I grew up in southern Utah and have degrees from Dixie State University and Southern Utah University. A million years ago, I taught kindergarten and then stayed home to take care of my family. During this time I was a substitute teacher, a PTA President and a passionate parent volunteer supporting a wide variety of music, drama, sports, and academic events. During all those years with my kids I knew I wanted to keep helping students so I went back to school at the University of Utah to get my Master’s Degree. I feel passionate about helping students do hard things and making their time here at Elk Ridge an amazing and positive experience.

Middle school students are my favorite and I am particularly partial to Elk Ridge students. There is no place I would rather be! I grew up in Littleton, Colorado (Go Broncos!) but spent the early years of my childhood in Puerto Rico. After graduating from high school I attended cosmetology school and utilized those skills to help support myself while pursuing an undergraduate degree in vocal performance. Music and performing remain my greatest passions and you can find me performing often throughout the salt lake valley. I earned a Bachelor of Science from Weber State University in Family Studies with a minor in Sociology and a Master of Science in Counseling from the University of Phoenix. Prior to becoming a school counselor, I spent many years teaching private voice, piano, and performing arts to youth. Aside from counseling and performing, I enjoy spending time with my five children. My experiences fuel my determination to help students pursue their own dreams and passions, however varied they may be. #middleschoolersrock

I love Elk Ridge Middle School! Working with these students has been the most satisfying challenge I've ever engaged in. My early interest in life was Law Enforcement which lead to a Bachelor's of Science degree in Criminal Justice with a minor in Sociology from Weber State University. As I was earning my undergraduate degree, I realized that working with youth and helping them to get on the right path at an early age was what I truly wanted to do. This led me to pursue a Master's of Counseling/School Counseling degree from the University of Phoenix and I haven't looked back once. I love being a Wapiti!

I am very excited to be joining the awesome counseling team here at Elk Ridge Middle School! I was born and raised in St. George, UT, and continued to reside there until 2012. It was then that I decided to move further north to South Jordan where I currently live. I have a family of 7 consisting of: myself, my wife, 2 daughters, and 3 step-sons. I obtained an A.A. degree from Dixie State University, a B.A. in Mathematics and a minor in Physics from Southern Utah University, and later, I earned an M.Ed. in Educational Psychology from the University of Utah. I love helping students overcome difficult struggles and obstacles in order to find happiness and success in their lives. This is why I have been a life-long educator for more than 20 years now. I actually began my career as a secondary math teacher and have since taught math in Washington County and Jordan School Districts. I also have experience as a counselor with Granite and Tooele County School Districts, but I am now back with Jordan School District here at Elk Ridge Middle as a counselor and so excited to be here! I hope to be a great asset to all the staff, faculty, parents, and especially to all the wonderful students that we have here at Elk Ridge! I look forward to a fantastic school year!

I am very excited to get to know and work with all the students, parents, and teachers at Elk Ridge Middle School! I originally grew up in Northern California and then came here to Utah to study Psychology and Spanish at BYU. I taught Spanish for a couple of years in the private sector and also worked in a high-risk residential treatment center for a couple years after that. At that time, I decided to pursue a career in School Psychology and moved out to Ohio to attend The Ohio State University where I earned my Master’s Degree in School Psychology and will earn my Educational Specialist Degree after this year. My wife and I missed the Utah mountains so much that as soon as I was done with the coursework in Ohio we came right back so I could intern in Elk Ridge.
As for my personal life I now live here in Utah with my wife and 1-year-old son. We all love to be outside and hike, bike, or walk through the beautiful outdoors this state has to offer. I am also passionate about sports and you can see who all my favorite teams are if you come into my office. I also love to travel and have been to most of the US and several other countries. I love to learn about others and their passions and can’t wait to do so with everyone at ERMS!
