I'm thrilled to be working in the Career Center here at Elk Ridge and also interning in the Counseling Center. I received an Associate's degree from Dixie State University and a Bachelor's in Elementary Education from Southern Utah University. I taught Kindergarten and then stayed home to have a family. During this time I did a lot of substitute teaching and volunteering in the schools. I've been a PTA President and I'm a passionate supporter of music, drama and the arts.
Some of my hobbies include hiking, slow running, and working on my dirt manicure in my garden. I also love going on crazy adventures with my husband, four daughters, and one granddaughter. Now that my kids are mostly grown, I'm back in school working on a Master's at the University of Utah and I'm excited to start living my dream life as a school counselor! My desire is to help students feel confident in doing hard things and making their time here at Elk Ridge an amazing and positive experience.
Mrs. Cook Last Names D-J I am joining the Elk Ridge counseling team this year after working at middle schools in the Canyons and Alpine school districts. I am so excited to be here and to get to know the amazing students, teachers, and parents with whom I will be working. I might be the most passionate and enthusiastic person you will ever meet. Especially when it comes to helping my students succeed in school and in life! Before becoming a school counselor I have been a substitute teacher in public and charter schools, as well as teaching voice, piano, and performing arts to youth in the private sector.
My education has been varied. After high school, I earned a Cosmetology license in the state of Colorado which is where I grew up (go Broncos!). I then felt a call to pursue my passion of music and earned an Associate of Science in Music from College of Eastern Utah (now Utah State Eastern.) I still love music, especially singing and have been known to perform on occasion. I went on to earn a Bachelor of Science from Weber State University in Family Studies with a minor in Sociology and EVENTUALLY a Master of Science in School Counseling from the University of Phoenix. My experiences fuel my determination to help students pursue their own dreams and passions, however varied they may be.

I am so excited to work with the students at Elk Ridge Middle School! This is going to be a fantastic year of exploration and growth. My first love in life was law enforcement (hello X-Files!) which lead to a Bachelor's of Science degree in Criminal Justice with a minor in Sociology from Weber State University. As I was earning my undergraduate degree, I realized that working with youth and helping them to get on the right path at an early age was what I truly wanted to do. This led me to pursue a Master's of Counseling/School Counseling degree from the University of Phoenix. I'm ready for a fun year, working to meet the needs of these students! I love: Travel, Utah's mountains, kayaking, my family, my kitties, Captain Crunch cereal and anything caramel covered with chocolate!

Elk Ridge Middle School students are the BEST! I love my job! I earned my Master’s degree in School Counseling from University of Phoenix, and earned my Bachelor’s degree in Sociology with a Minor in Psychology from Brigham Young University. Go Cougars! I have also had experience counseling in an elementary school and a high school, but my favorite by far is working in Middle School!
On a personal level, I have 2 daughters who love to go hiking and climbing with me. I love to go ice climbing on frozen waterfalls, enjoy baking yummy desserts, and l like to go backpacking! I also like to read and go to movies. I was a dance teacher for 7 years and still love to dance and judge competitions. But most of all I like to help kids to reach their full potential!
