Mrs. Huefner, Case Load: A-Ch Life/Career Development
I love working with the students here at Elk Ridge! I grew up in southern Utah and have degrees from Dixie State University and Southern Utah University. A million years ago, I taught kindergarten and then stayed home to take care of my family. During this time I was a substitute teacher, a PTA President and a passionate parent volunteer supporting a wide variety of music, drama, sports, and academic events. During all those years with my kids I knew I wanted to keep helping students so I went back to school at the University of Utah to get my Master’s Degree. I feel passionate about helping students do hard things and making their time here at Elk Ridge an amazing and positive experience.
Mrs. Cook, Case Load: Ci-J Social/Emotional Development & Multicultural/Global Citizenship Development
Middle school students are my favorite and I am particularly partial to those at Elk Ridge. There is no place I would rather be! I grew up in Littleton, Colorado but spent the early years of my childhood in Puerto Rico. After graduating from high school I attended cosmetology school and utilized those skills to help support myself while pursuing an undergraduate degree in vocal performance. Music and performing remain my greatest passions and you can find me performing often. I earned a Bachelor of Science from Weber State University in Family Studies with a minor in Sociology and a Master of Science in Counseling from the University of Phoenix. Having a vocational certificate as well as advanced degrees gives me a unique perspective from which to guide students in their educational planning. Aside from counseling and performing, I enjoy spending time with my family. My experiences fuel my determination to help students pursue their own dreams and passions, however varied they may be.

I am very excited to be joining the awesome counseling team here at Elk Ridge Middle School! I was born and raised in St. George, UT, and continued to reside there until 2012. It was then that I decided to move further north to South Jordan where I currently live. I have a family of 7 consisting of: myself, my wife, 2 daughters, and 3 step-sons. I obtained an A.A. degree from Dixie State University, a B.A. in Mathematics and a minor in Physics from Southern Utah University, and later, I earned an M.Ed. in Educational Psychology from the University of Utah. I love helping students overcome difficult struggles and obstacles in order to find happiness and success in their lives. This is why I have been a life-long educator for more than 20 years now. I actually began my career as a secondary math teacher and have since taught math in Washington County and Jordan School Districts. I also have experience as a counselor with Granite and Tooele County School Districts, but I am now back with Jordan School District here at Elk Ridge Middle as a counselor and so excited to be here! I hope to be a great asset to all the staff, faculty, parents, and especially to all the wonderful students that we have here at Elk Ridge! I look forward to a fantastic school year!
